Today, we took the “Pyramids, Memphis, & Sakkara” tour. The tour met at 6AM, so we woke before any reasonable time and drug ourselves to the buses.
The bus ride was about 2 1/2 hours to Memphis.
In the Sakkara necropolis, we saw the Step Pyramid of Zoser (Pyramid of Djoser), Egypt’s oldest-known pyramid.
In Memphis, once Egypt’s capital, we saw the Colossus of Ramses II (lying down on the job, tbh)We also saw the beautiful Alabaster Sphinx. The tour promised the Temple of Ptah ruins, but we couldn’t find them…
In Cairo, we ate at a buffet at the Steigenberger Pyramids Cairo Hotel. We could see the pyramids from our table.
After lunch we went to visit the pyramids and the Sphynix. I did get overheated, even with precautions taken. It’s just too dang hot.
