Koya-san

Koya-san

Monday, June 18th

After the visiting Taiyo Castle, we headed to Koya-san, which is hidden on a mountain side and is very hard to get to. One of the reasons it is so out of the way is because it is filled with Buddhist Monks and temples.

Update: We had to ride a funicular up the mountain side to get to Koya-San. The monks that live on this mountain top are vegan, so our dinner and breakfast here were mostly foods that we did not recognize, but it was good. They practice fire rituals during morning prayers, which we caught some of with the camera. They also had access to hot springs as well.
