Today, we took the “Best of Alexandria” tour. We walked through the catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa. We then took a short ride to Pompey’s Pillar, which actually honors Diocletian, and the Roman Amphitheater.
We toured the Library of Alexandria – the new one of course.
We ate lunch near the Citadel of Qaitbay, which is where the Lighthouse of Alexandria once stood.
After lunch, we went to see the Abu El Abbas Mosque, but I was exhausted by then and stayed on the bus. There was a papyrus demonstration and you could buy some trinkets and such, which is common for any tour from a cruise ship.
